The Fun Part

A DSMB is an important safety tool for divers; especially if you enjoy exciting things like drift diving! Knowing how to safely launch a DSMB while underwater is something every diver should know.

What You Learn

  • Why having a DSMB is important:
    • How DSMBs differ from SMBs
    • How to pick an appropriate DSMB and reel
  • How to safely launch a DSMB
  • How to care for and stow your DSMB and reel
  • When and in what conditions you should launch your DSMB

 

You put this information into practice during two open water dives.

Prerequisites

    • PADI Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another training organization)
    • 12 years or older

The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all your basic scuba gear as well as a DSMB, reel, and cutting tool.
