Join the Blue Planet Stream Team, the Rock Creek Conservancy and the Alice Ferguson Foundation for the 11th Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup, in coordination with the 31st Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup.

When: Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 10 AM – 12 PM

Where: Meet up in the parking lot across from Pierce Mill on Tilden Street right before it crosses Beach Drive and turns into Park Road. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the Cleveland Park Metro station.

What to bring: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes (you may get wet). Bring yard gloves if you have them. And don’t forget water — in a reusable container, of course.

Rock Creek Cleanup - MLK Day of Service UPDATED!

**BE ADVISED, we have updated the meeting location for the event due to the government shutdown. SEE BELOW FOR UPDATED LOCATION. The National Park Service has requested there be no organized volunteer activities in Rock Creek Park, therefore we will be helping Rock Creek Park by cleaning up the communities nearby.**

Looking for a great volunteer opportunity for the MLK Day of Service? Join Blue Planet divers to clean up Rock Creek! Honor Dr. King’s legacy and give back to our community through keeping our waterways clean.

When: Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10 AM – 12 PM

Where: 2801 Quebec St NW. Parking available in the lot and on street. Parking might be limited, so volunteers are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation. MetroRail access is available from Red Line at Cleveland Park.

What to bring: Please dress appropriately for the weather. Layers and a hat to prevent exposure to the cold is recommended. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers. We recommend long pants and sleeves to prevent contact with poison ivy. And don’t forget water — in a reusable container, of course.

Join us for AWARE Week and take action for the ocean!

In celebration of the ocean, the first ever AWARE Week is taking place around the world September 15-23, 2018. Aimed at empowering more divers to look after the underwater world, a full week of conservation activities and actions will take place.

Blue Planet has teamed up with Project AWARE and PADI to host a week full of activities for divers and other ocean-lovers in DC. From AWARE courses focused on tackling ocean pollution, to creating awareness for vulnerable shark and ray species, to empowering local communities to take positive actions for the protection of fragile aquatic environments, all are welcome — fins on and fins off.
