DIVE PROCEDURES AND COVID-19 Getting back in the water safely!

We know you are as eager to get back in the water as we are! Whether you are an experienced diver looking to get in some fun dives or brand new to diving and just starting your training, we want you to know we are taking every precaution necessary to protect you and our staff. All of our policies are based upon the best available information from the Washington DC governement, the CDC, DAN and PADI.

Below you will find information about the changes we are implementing for all of our training. If you have any questions or would like to discuss our new COVID-19 procedures, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.

Please note that in shop visits are by appointment only. You can set up an appointment to come by the shop here.

Health Declaration

Safety is our utmost concern. Because of this we are asking all divers to complete a new Health Declaration Form in addition to the normal medical statement required for scuba training.

New Diver Orientation

New Diver Orientations are going virtual! We will be moving the classroom portion of our NDOs online to help ensure we are following social distancing protocols. When it comes time for you to find the right mask, fins and snorkel we will set up a designated appointment time for you to visit the shop and get fitted!

Classroom Training

Classroom training will continue online as it has over the past few months. Any in person skills, like tank analyzing, will be conducted during a designated appointment time. We will also be conducting in person skills at the lake if you are completing a specialty that includes dives!

Confined Water Training

As you know, pools remain closed in Washington DC and the surrounding areas and will likely remain closed for the coming months. If you have access to a private pool, we are happy to come to you and conduct your confined water training in it!

Otherwise, confined water training will be conducted in the confined water sections of our local scuba parks!

Open Water Training

Yes, we can now complete your open water training! Just with face masks, extra hand washing and social distancing. We will be conducting open water certification dives and specialty dives at our local scuba parks with a few changes on the surface.  We are encouraging divers to "bring their own" buddy or team up with another student in your current quarantine circle to help keep our classes small. So if you have a friend, relative or roommate who as always wanted to start diving now, is a great time to do so!

If you would like to see any of our updated training guidelines or discuss any of the safety measures we have put into place, please email us at info@blueplanetdc.com!
