Diving that Counts…How you are a Marine Citizen Scientist

Scientists track the quantity and quality of everything related to our oceans… marine life, coral reefs, plastics and debris, invasive species, algae blooms, tide levels, and so much more. BUT, with our oceans covering over 70% of the Earth’s surface, marine biologists and oceanographers can’t be everywhere at once. They desperately need help recording the health of our Blue Planet. They need your help!

As a certified scuba diver, every time you dive, you see a part of the Earth, and all the living (and non-living) things it contains, that 99.93% of humanity can’t observe. This uniqueness gives you access to the raw data ocean scientists need to do their work. Without these data, and without your help, their studies would be incomplete and their conclusions possibly inaccurate.

Join us to learn some simple methods and resources (as easy and as handy as on your smartphone or diving slate) to make you, as a scuba diver, a Marine Citizen Scientist. Join us and learn how to help record the state of our oceans.
