Washington, DC will enter Phase 1 of reopening on May 29th. We know you are as eager as we are to get back underwater! The coming weeks and months will look different for all of us and we want our divers to be fully aware of what Blue Planet's "new normal" will look like as this situation evolves.

The shop will be reopen June 2nd but only for curbside and front door drop-off or pick-up. We will be instituting strict procedures to ensure our safety as well as yours. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of our online store and make an appointment in advance.

Dive Training

Blue Planet will be continuing to offer the classroom portions of all of our classes over Zoom. Head over to our Online Courses page to check out all of the learning you can do from home!

Public and private pools will remain closed in Washington, DC through Phase 2. This means our dive training is going to look a little different in the coming months. Don’t worry though! We are actively working with PADI and our instructional staff to reshape our classes to account for our new normal while also ensuring everyone’s health and safety. We will have more updates about classes and the resumption of training on June 8th so check back then for more information!

Visiting the Shop

Per Washington, DC’s Phase 1 guidance, Blue Planet will be offering curbside pick-up as well as continuing with gear and purchase deliveries. If you would like to set up a time for curbside pick-up we ask that you please schedule an appointment using our online portal here. We also ask that you wear a mask and not attempt to enter the shop if you choose to pick-up curbside. For more information on how curbside pick-up will work, please refer to our Blue Planet Scuba COVID-19 Safety Procedures document.

Dive Gear

Our online store is a great resource if you are looking to purchase your own gear, something we highly recommend now more than ever! If you have questions about a particular product or would like to see something, please contact us and we will be happy to set up a one-on-one consultation over Zoom or Facetime.

Now is also the time to get your gear serviced! We are expecting a high volume of gear service requests as we move into summer and dive locations begin to reopen. So beat the rush now and set up a time to drop off your gear.

Local Diving

At least one of our local dive sites is now open to divers! While we understand that everyone wants to get in the water as soon as possible, we encourage you to continue to practice social distancing and good hygiene. If you would like more information about local diving, check out our Local Diving page or contact us for more information!

We have a number of socially-distanced Dive Against Debris underwater clean-ups planned at Sandy Point State Park in the coming months and would love for you to join us! It doesn’t get much more local than diving in the Chesapeake and we love being able to help take care of it. For more information about our upcoming underwater clean-ups, check out our calendar!

During this time Blue Planet also remains committed to the conservation of our environment. We are continuing to limit our use of single use items while also protecting our customers and ourselves. We have updated our shop and teaching policies to reflect the most current guidance from the CDC, PADI and DAN. If you have any questions or concerns or would like to see our more detailed COVID-19 policies, please ask!

Should you have any questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us by email at info@blueplanetdc.com or call us at (202) 527-9419.
