Physiology of Dive Fitness: Making Scuba Part of a Healthy Lifestyle

Would you like to know how you can continue to improve your buoyancy and air efficiency? Join us for another discussion on making scuba diving part of a healthy lifestyle. Georgetown University professor of physiology and Blue Planet Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Ryan Downey, will lead an interactive discussion about scientifically validated ways to improve your body composition. We’ll talk about tips and tricks for fitness in your everyday life and ways to make improving your health as easy as possible. We’ll also talk about how your body composition affects your diving including buoyancy control, air consumption, and risk for scuba injuries such as DCS. Bring your questions for the Q&A!

Want to go PRO?
Love scuba diving? Want to share it with others on a whole new level? Are you ready to “go pro” and join the ranks of professional scuba divers?
Join us for this informal meeting to learn more about all levels of PADI professional certifications, including Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Open Water Scuba Instructor and beyond. PADI Course Director Derek Freres will be here to answer all of your questions.
Curious about Tec Diving?
Technical (tec) diving means going beyond recreational scuba diving limits. But, tec divers will tell you that it’s really about the challenge and adventure of exploring places that no one else has ever seen. Tec diving is not for everyone, but it does attract experienced divers who want to go beyond their current limits and are willing to accept the added risks, training, investment and commitment it demands. If this is you, then PADI TecRec courses are your ticket to extreme adventure.
Derek also happens to be a PADI Tec Deep and Tec Trimix Instructor Trainer. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more!

“Visit the incredible new exhibition ‘Titanic: The Untold Story’ and stay for a special evening with legendary oceanographer and National Geographic Explorer-at-Large Robert Ballard, the ship’s discoverer, to hear about the unfolding mystery at the center of one of the greatest discoveries of all time. It is a story straight out of the pages of a Cold War thriller that will leave you wondering what more we may discover about this legendary shipwreck.

Titanic, German battleship Bismarck, and numerous other contemporary and ancient shipwrecks around the world. During his long career he has conducted more than 150 deep-sea expeditions using the latest in exploration technology. In 2008, he secured the E/V Nautilus, which has become his flagship for exploration. Robert is also significantly involved in various educational outreach programs. He has received prestigious awards from the Explorers Club and the National Geographic Society—the Explorers Club Medal and the Hubbard Medal, respectively—as well as the Lindbergh Award from the Lindbergh Foundation.
