Blue Planet

We’re a different kind of dive operation--aimed at providing the best education and travel experiences to divers in Washington, DC while harnessing the excitement and adventure of scuba to help protect our fragile oceans.

We go beyond certifying divers with a commitment to meeting each student with personalized, flexible instruction that fits into the busy lives of people here.

Meanwhile, we are committed to helping people connect to the life in our oceans and foster awareness of the threats facing this globally essential ecosystem. Blue Planet works closely with environmental organizations and local communities to foster sustainability. We recognize that our oceans are being ravaged by pollution, coastal development, over-fishing and global warming and believe that active, informed divers can help restore the health of our planet’s ocean

What's different about learning to dive with us?

SMALL CLASSES: Rather than a big class of 15 people, we keep classes small, between 2 and 8 people. That means you learn as quickly or as slowly as you need and have lots of time to practice until you are completely comfortable... you're neither waiting around for others to catch skills nor feeling rushed.

FLEXIBILITY: We build classes around your schedule. Do the classroom portion online or independent study at whatever time works for you so you spend more of your time with us in the water learning skills. Pools are in DC and metro-accessible and we set the times that work best for you--after work or weekends based on those in the class.

HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION: We're a small, independent operation focused on TEACHING... we can get you the gear you need, but our focus is on doing what we love--teaching people to dive.  We promise you'll have a great experience however you learn best and whatever your comfort level in the water.

COMMITMENT TO OUR BLUE PLANET: Every student at Blue Planet will received education in not just the basics of diving, but the ecosystems we will be diving into.  We believe that by teaching a bit about the marine life in our oceans and helping our community dive sustainably, we can help restore the health of our oceans.
